Project Statement
Using soft, tactile, and recycled materials I sought to create a sketchbook that continuously encouraged me to use it. Sketchbooks and I have always had a complicated relationship because, while I don’t quite understand why, I never really use them. It’s usually the case that I buy a new sketchbook, fill the first few pages, and then never touch them again. This is an incredibly wasteful and problematic cycle that I wanted to explore within the framework of this project.
Reflection
My final sketchbook has so many elements that I now can’t imagine living without. Its flat-laying pages, portable size, quality paper, and added back pocket are all features that have made my ideation process much more enjoyable over the course of these last few projects. I have truly enjoyed having a place to store all of my ideas for the past semesters and I am looking forward to making another sketchbook for myself after filling this one.
