Project Timeline: 2 months
Project Role: Event Organizer, Graphic Designer, and Host
Individual Project with the space, material, and marketing assistance of Urban Arts Space Gallery.
On Friday, January 31, Urban Arts Space (UAS) opened its doors to the fiber community for Artist Commune: Knit Circle.
Each month UAS hosts an Artist Commune event with a different theme. For the month of January I had to honor to pick the event's focus as well as plan, market, and execute hosting over 30 local crafters into the gallery space. After a lecture about the importance of combating fast fashion and the importance of preserving textile practices we then spent the rest of our evening knitting and conversing with each other.
Hosting Knit Circle deepened my sense of connection and collaboration with fellow makers, many of whom I had just met. In this era, face-to-face discussions about how we can weave our future together are more important than ever. It was an honor to help create this space for the Columbus community.
