In the fall of 2023, I had the honor of taking a design research class taught by Liz Sanders. A key project challenged the class to apply a toolbox research method to innovate a facet of the healthcare field. My team chose to focus on understanding the bridge of trust between an individual and their healthcare provider. I created a take-home work assignment regarding this topic and distributed it to all class participants. Upon completion, I brought our participants together and facilitated two in-person activities centered on this assignment. With all of this data and feedback, it was determined that patients do desire a stronger and more intimate connection to their healthcare providers, however, the type and level of this connection varies between individuals.
Overall, this project imbued us with a better understanding of the toolbox research method and individual's feelings towards healthcare at large.
